The head of the country’s hydrocarbon state company Charalambos Ellinashas said the natural gas terminal in Cyprus will be up and running by 2019 at the latest in the Vasilikos area.
He noted that the goal is possible, if there are no delays in the process.
He further added that the company is in negotiations with Noble, aiming at an agreement as soon as possible so that construction can begin.
He did not rule out the possibility of other companies being involved in the work at a later stage, and following a confirmation drill on plot 12 of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone, expected in April.
He added that the confirmation drill will indicate quantities in excess of initial estimates of 7 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
