A new meeting between Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt will be held within the next few days in Cyprus, President Nicos Anastasiades said on Thursday.
The three sides met in Cairo last year and pledged to boost cooperation in the energy field.
The meeting in Cairo between Anastasiades, Egyptian President Abdelfattah al-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras demonstrated deepening ties between the three states, who are challenging Turkey’s efforts to chart gas deposits in areas of the east Mediterranean claimed by Cyprus.
“Cairo’s tripartite meeting will be held in Cyprus in the next few days,” Anastasiades said during a speech at the opening ceremony of the 48th Conference of Lions of Greece and Cyprus in Limassol.
