Cyprus` Minister of Energy Georgios Lakkotrypis believes that the issue of hydrocarbons is an excellent diplomatic tool which should be exploited to the full.
In an interview with the Cyprus News Agency, he expressed concern about the serious fallout which the continuing falling price of oil could have on energy matters in various countries, including Cyprus, pointing out that this could affect companies which have invested or intend to invest in energy as well as the price of natural gas on the international market, in that this is linked to the price of Brent.
“We monitor the situation and assess available data, in order to make the necessary statistical forcast and adjust accordingly our position,” the Minister said, talking to CNA after a meeting here in Athens between the ministers of foreign affairs and the ministers of energy of Greece and Cyprus.
